Planning
for end of life issues is a difficult topic to talk about with family,
especially in Western culture. Here, we
think we are invincible and try to live our lives as actively as possible.
However,
there comes the time when we must consider that death will arrive sooner than
later. Thankfully, there are resources
that can help with the conversation and to begin drafting advance healthcare directives.
Tomorrow
is National Healthcare Decisions Day and The Conversation Project is sponsoring
the Death Over Dinner event. It will
take place from April 16-22. The concept
is that you and a group of people (family members, friends, etc.) choose a date
and register for a “test dinner.” The
test dinner is exactly that—something to try out. It in no way commits you to the actual
dinner. If you like the idea, go for it!
