Announcement: Women and Epilepsy Symposium, February 4, 2017

On Saturday, February 4, 2017, in Huntington Beach, the University of California, Irvine and the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles will be hosting a symposium on Women and Epilepsy.  The program opens at 8 am and closes at 2 pm, Pacific Time.  It will address key issues related to women, including prenatal counseling, catamenial seizures, effects of drugs on the reproductive cycle, breastfeeding, menopause, and more.

Happy Holidays!

It is that time of year once again!  It is hard to believe the holidays are upon us once again!  I hope you are enjoying yourselves with family and friends.  This should be a joyous time of celebration for all.

Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles—Upcoming Events

There are going to be two upcoming events in December hosted by the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles.

The first is a Workshop/Social at the Los Angeles Zoo on Saturday, December 10, from 10 am to 5:30 pm.  Registration costs $10, but scholarships are available.  They will have Educational Sessions and Art Therapy, as well as time for socializing.  This is a good opportunity for families to connect and share experiences about their epilepsy.

Thanksgiving Thoughts

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!  I had a quiet but special weekend with family, with the traditional trimmings, but instead of turkey, we had ham.  Asparagus, mashed sweet potatoes, carrots, and broccoli. 

Election 2016

The election results are coming in right now and it is very scary.  Donald Trump is possibly going to become president of the United States.  I have been trying not to think about this, but it is difficult not to.  A Donald Trump presidency would have terrible implications for people with disabilities. 

He does everything for his own self interest and does not care for others, no matter what he may say.  He is a good marketer, with a good slogan.  This is how he appeals to many disaffected voters.  However, he has offended people of all types (minorities, people with disabilities, etc.).  His policies would ruin our country and set us back to the Dark Ages.  People with epilepsy would be sent back into the closet.

I truly fear for us.  We need to elect Hillary Clinton.  She will fight for us.
